Strengthen TVET to Build Future Technical Talent

SHAH ALAM, SELANGOR ,11 April 2026 – Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn. Bhd. (MODENAS), a member of the DRB-HICOM Group, has formalised a collaboration with SMK Pendidikan Khas Bumbong Lima with the handing over of specialised technical service manuals in support of the school’s TVET Motorcycle Service and Maintenance Programme.

The initiative reflects MODENAS’ commitment to bridging education and industry by equipping students, particularly those requiring special education, with practical knowledge aligned with current industry standards.

The programme introduces the TVET Motorcycle Service and Maintenance Module (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia), offering structured exposure to real-world industry practices through hands-on learning enabled by one (1) unit of the Modenas CT100 motorcycle, complemented by seventeen (17) service manuals across a range of legacy Modenas models, including the Kriss 110, GT 128, Karisma 125, Dominar 400, and others. The initiative is expected to benefit approximately 150 students, while supporting inclusive and industry-relevant learning opportunities.

“Through this collaboration, we aim to support the development of local talent by introducing them to real-world industry practices and standards. Initiatives like this help to shape job-ready talent while ensuring that no potential is overlooked,” said Roslan Roskan, Chief Executive Officer of MODENAS, after the handover which took place recently.

He added that the provision of technical materials serves as a foundation in shaping industry-ready competencies among students.

“These technical service manuals go beyond being simple reference materials. They instil industry discipline by helping students understand systems, adhere to professional standards and develop the precision required in technical roles. Such competencies are critical in building a skilled workforce capable of supporting the long-term growth of Malaysia’s automotive industry,” he said.

The collaboration also complements the school’s strong academic performance, having achieved a 100% pass rate in the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination. The achievement includes the commendable performance by students with special learning needs, reflecting the effectiveness of structured and inclusive education approaches.

As Malaysia’s national motorcycle manufacturer, MODENAS’ industry expertise spans multiple segments including underbone motorcycles or commonly known locally as “kapcai”, a type of lightweight, step-through bike with a compact engine positioned beneath the rider, scooters, high-powered motorcycles and emerging technologies such as electric vehicles. This enables the company to support education initiatives with relevant insights aligned to current and future industry developments.

The company is supported by a skilled workforce trained through collaborations with international partners, ensuring alignment with global technical standards and best practices.

Moving forward, MODENAS remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen the local talent pipeline in line with industry needs and national development priorities.

“This initiative is not just about supporting education — it is about shaping individuals who are capable of contributing meaningfully to society and confidently step into the nation’s future workforce. Even a single opportunity can make a meaningful difference, and collectively, these efforts help shape the future of our country,” Roslan added.
